Dr. Shameram “Shammy” Karim

Executive Director

Dr. Shameram “Shammy” Karim has been in education for over 15 years with experience ranging from classroom teacher to Superintendent. Her work experience started as an elementary classroom teacher in general education and special education classrooms. She then held multiple site leadership positions in San Joaquin County. When she and her husband moved to the Bay Area she took on the position of Superintendent of a small school district in the Los Gatos mountains. In her most recent position she was serving as the Assistant Director of HR/Employee Assistance for the Santa Clara County Office of Education. Dr. Karim received her doctorate degree from Brandman University in Organizational Leadership in 2019. She also holds a M.A. in Education and a B.A. in Social Studies.

Dr. Karim grew up in Modesto and that is where she and her husband currently reside with their dog Ralph. She enjoys traveling, spending time with family, and planning events.


Stephanie Loomis

Staff Services Coordinator

Stephanie has worked for the County of Stanislaus since 2004. She joined the Commission in late 2012 and works in administration. Stephanie has a B.A. in Psychology from California State University, Stanislaus. She enjoys spending time with her family and giving back to the community, particularly mentoring young students.


Veronica Ascencio

Accountant III

Veronica Ascencio has worked with Stanislaus County since 1999 and joined the Commission in May of 2016 as the commission's accountant. Her background includes over fifteen years of accounting and auditing experience. Veronica is responsible for all the financial aspects of the commission, including accounting oversight of contractors and fiscal reporting. Veronica enjoys cooking for and camping with her family and is always eager to help those in need.
